Jorge Luis Borges (redux)

An archived copy of ‘Pierre Menard, Author of Don Quixote. (Don’t linger on the opening paragraphs and lengthy list, the story proper starts after that.) I dug this up to share, because I think it sheds some light on Strange Little Girls, a cover album in which Tori Amos sings songs written in a male voice by men. Borges, writing in 1941, does a better job than me, writing in 2001, of reviewing why she would do that. Though Borges would no doubt note - and Barth would agree - that it would be more heroic for her to write one song about a woman covering male songs.
