Sickly Narrative

Sick today. Watched some episodes of Astro Boy and read more of The Diamond Age. Episode II tickets arrived in the mail. Spent a little too much time junk net surfing and in front of junk TV. Discovered the sex project, which is not as pornographic as it sounds.

I was sick yesterday as well, but managed to go to work. Left some of my Star Wars figures there as an incentive to go back. Emailed Ainsley today to make sure they weren’t left out over the weekend which earnt me some mockery, but these things have multiple values: to me, to collectors, to little kids. Best not leave them lying around.

It’s funny because I didn’t bring any in on Wednesday. I thought I had 34, but I only have 31. (I remember when I could do advanced calculus like that, now I can barely count.) People suddenly wanted to know where they were. Even the guy who refers to them as “dolls”. (They’re not dolls, they’re “action figures”. The two have different functions in the social lives of children. What role they have in my life I haven’t quite figured out.)

Star Wars and sickness aside, yesterday I also had a talk to the Associate Director in charge of me, about leaving for overseas when the current major milestone is completed. He was keen to keep me in the company, but, like most companies, we are feeling the flattening of the market. But he said he’d take my case to one of the highest people worldwide (we have approx. ~12,000 people). Which was nice. If I get offered anything there’s a chance it’ll be for mainland Europe rather than the UK. Meanwhile I’ve started looking around generally.
